Artist Statement
My artwork is based on life moments within my environment and love to capture the beauty of its simplicity. My goal is to have the viewer appreciate the beauty in the moments and details through my work. I tend to gravitate towards black and white compositions, using pen, charcoal, or paint. However, I like to use more media such as watercolor, oil paint, colored pencil, etc. The pieces I chose to display, highlight my love for simplicity in art and composition.
The Oliver Ames art department has taught me a number of lessons and techniques I can use in my everyday life. One specific skill art has taught me is time management, I used to be the worst procrastinator, now I have learned that I am able to manage my time with whatever task I have. My artistic side has blossomed within my time at Oliver Ames and throughout my four years I have earned an honorable mention and silver key in the Scholastic Art Awards and 2nd place in the graphite category for the MA Congressional Art Competition. Not only has art pushed me to become a better artist, it has pushed me to become a better person all around. Going forward I plan to keep my artistic side present by continuing to pursue art by taking art classes while in college. I will be attending UMass Boston with a major in accounting but will not forget about the passion and love I have for art as a whole. |
